User Guide: Accessing Your macOS Application via Single Sign-On (SSO)
Welcome to the Athena Board Single Sign-On (SSO) user guide for macOS. This document provides clear, step-by-step instructions on how to securely log in, manage your active session, and sign out of your Athena Board on macOS.
Overview
Single Sign-On streamlines your workflow by allowing you to access the application using your standard corporate or organisational credentials. This approach enhances security and eliminates the need to remember a separate username and password for this app.
Logging In Using Single Sign-On
Follow these steps to sign in to the application on your Mac:
- Launch the Application: Open the Athena Board app from your Mac’s Applications folder, Launchpad, or Spotlight search.
- Initiate Sign-In: On the initial sign-in window, click the Login button.
- Browser Redirection:
- Clicking the button will automatically open your Mac’s default web browser (typically Safari).
- A system prompt may briefly appear asking for permission to allow the application to open the browser or complete authentication. Click Allow or Continue.
- Authenticate with Your Provider:
- In the browser window, enter your corporate email address and password.
- Return to the Application: Once your credentials are verified, the browser will display a success message or automatically redirect you back to the application. You may now close the browser tab and begin using the app.
Managing Your Session
- Session Expiry: Depending on your organisation’s security and governance rules, your session may periodically expire. When this happens, you will be prompted to click Login to refresh your credentials via your web browser.
Signing Out
To safeguard sensitive information, particularly when sharing a device, it is recommended to sign out when you have finished your work:
- Click on the settings icon with the app
- Select Logout.
- Confirm your selection. Your active session will be terminated, and you will be returned to the primary login screen.
Troubleshooting and Support
If you encounter any issues while attempting to log in, please consider the following checks:
- Internet Connection: Ensure your device is connected to a stable Wi-Fi or mobile data network. There is no Single Sign On support when offline.
- Credential Issues: Your username and password are managed by your organisation. If your corporate password has expired or you require a password reset, please reach out directly to your Board Administrator, internal IT support desk or system administrator. Do not contact Athena board support as we will be unable to assist.
